Dental Cleaning

Dental prophylaxis, also known as professional dental cleaning (PDC), is an essential part of modern and holistic dental and oral hygiene. Targeted preventive care, which includes the prevention, early detection, and treatment of diseases, helps maintain a healthy and radiant smile into old age. Regular professional dental cleaning and dental check-ups are key components of prophylaxis. They enable the early detection and treatment of changes to teeth and gums, significantly reducing the risk of cavities. Even with thorough home dental care, certain areas of the mouth are often difficult to reach. Plaque and bacteria can accumulate in these areas, leading to tartar build-up and inflammation. If these areas are not treated at least twice a year, it can result in gum recession, bone loss, and even tooth loss (periodontitis) over time. A professional dental cleaning ensures that even hard-to-reach areas are thoroughly cleaned. This effectively prevents diseases such as gingivitis (gum inflammation), periodontitis (inflammation of the tooth-supporting tissues), and cavities. In addition to the health benefits, PDC also has aesthetic advantages. Stains caused by coffee, tea, red wine, or tobacco are removed from the tooth surface, leaving teeth looking brighter and more polished.

As a preventive measure, it is recommended to have professional dental cleaning (PDC) done once or twice a year. This effectively helps prevent gum disease and cavities and ensures long-term dental health.

The cost of professional dental cleaning depends on several factors. The main factor is the number of teeth the patient has, as this determines the amount of work required. Oral hygiene also plays a crucial role: good oral hygiene typically means less time is needed. The most significant cost factor is the dentist, as the price depends on the billing factor used. In our practice, the cost of professional dental cleaning is based solely on the time required and ranges between 40 and 70 Euros.
